Julie Simmons trained as a commercial artist (Graphic Artist) on leaving school. This was followed working as a tracer and detail draughtsperson for an engineering company. Julie also produced exploded view drawings for car manuals.
Whilst having her family she completed two Diplomas in pottery at Penrith Tafe and for the next 16yrs had a successful career as a studio potter.
Julie returned to painting in 2004 working primarily in watercolour. Always one to try new things she began using oils, acrylics and mixed media.
Julie spends much of her time travelling in her trusty campervan ‘Clarice’ sketching and painting around the country. The sketchbooks and studies are used to produce works in her studio.
Julie is the recipient of numerous awards around the country.
A number of councils and private businesses have acquired her work.
Julie is a Fellow of the Royal Art Society.
